Our Technology for Good Programmes
Unami Schools
School Operating Partner (SOP)
Unami Schools supports schools with digital infrastructure that can strengthen communication, visibility, information sharing and access to opportunities.
The School Operating Partner model focuses on enabling schools through technology and related support while respecting their autonomy, existing governance and educational responsibilities.
Our initial pilot deployment is Duck Ponds High School.
Umkhandlu
Council Operating Partner (COP)
Umkhandlu explores how digital infrastructure can support traditional and community governance through improved access to information, communication, coordination and stakeholder participation.
The Council Operating Partner model is intended to provide technology and supporting capabilities that councils and their communities can adapt to their own context and priorities.
The current pilot deployment is centred around the Khathide Traditional Council. It is an evolving case study, with formal partnership arrangements and broader deployment still to be developed.
Unami Sports
Community Sports Operating Partnership (CSOP)
Unami Sports is developing a technology-support model for community sports teams, initially focusing on local soccer teams.
The aim is to give self-determined teams access to digital tools and organisational infrastructure that can support their identity, communication, activities, development and access to opportunities.
Unami Foundation does not seek to own or operate the participating clubs. The intention is to enable teams to strengthen their own capabilities and pursue their own goals.
The platform deployment is being finalised, with community pilot opportunities being developed.
How the Models Work
Each programme applies the same broad principle in a different environment:
- SOP — School Operating Partner: technology that supports schools.
- COP — Council Operating Partner: technology that supports traditional and community governance.
- CSOP — Community Sports Operating Partnership: technology that supports community sports teams.
These models are intended to make useful digital infrastructure accessible while preserving the autonomy and self-determination of the people and organisations involved.
The programmes are at different stages of development. We distinguish between working platforms, pilot deployments, prospective partnerships and established agreements, and we aim to develop each model through practical implementation and learning.
Building What Communities Can Build On
Technology for Good is part of Unami Foundation's longer-term commitment to digital shared infrastructure that serves human and community development.
We are developing the technology, partnerships, capabilities and practical evidence needed to make these models sustainable and useful in their respective environments.
